Lucy Ramquist, MS, RDN, LD
Hey there! My name is Lucy and I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) here on the Synergy team. I've enjoyed exploring the PNW after moving out here from Minnesota a few years ago. I provide virtual nutrition services for Synergy and look forward to connecting!
Philosophy:
I would describe my sessions with clients as relaxed and conversational. I believe in the power of a solid therapeutic relationship to support meaningful change, so we'll often talk about other aspects of your life beyond food. My general nutrition philosophy is an anti-diet and weight inclusive approach. I believe that better health and quality of life come from appreciating the role that mind, body, and soul (AKA thoughts, physical symptoms, and emotions) play in how we interact with food.
Education and Background:
I graduated with a Bachelors in Biology from the University of WI - Eau Claire in 2015, followed
by a Masters in Nutrition from the University of WI - Stout in 2018.
I've always loved science, particularly from the angle of how food works in the body and all of the biochemical processes
that encompass metabolism. This, and looking for ways to improve my performance on the collegiate cross country and track teams, are what led me to choose a career in dietetics. During the dietetic internship that all graduates complete in order to become an RDN, I participated in a rotation at an eating disorder treatment center. I immediately felt a sense of alignment with the prevailing approaches of anti-diet nutrition, intuitive eating practices, and weight inclusive care in this field. I discovered the fulfmillment that comes from exploring people's relationships with food, movement, and bodies. Helping people find flexibility with food to support their own values and overall health is so rewarding and is why I specialize in disordering eating and eating disorders. Beyond that, sports nutrition is also my jam!
When I'm not with clients, you can find me running the trails, surfing at the coast, or enjoying some tunes at a show; I love all kinds of music. I love talking about my cat Samwise as well as the indoor forest I'm growing in my apartment (I can never have too many plants, although my
partner may say otherwise). Travelling and reading are other interests of mine, so recommendations for each are always welcome!
