I recently had the opportunity to be interviewed on KBND morning news. What a treat! I much prefer radio to TV--there's less opportunity for me to overthink it. Plus--I am NOT someone who prides myself on my fashion sense. On this morning, I did the interview in my ski pants and headed to the mountain after! You can listen to the interview below: https://kbnd.com/podcasts/your-town?play_file=66432 The purpose of the interview was to get our message out--in general--and to share some of our upcoming calendar of events during National Nutrition Month® this year.
Here at Synergy, we look at nutrition, and health, through a wider lens than just food and exercise. The National Nutrition Month® theme is “Go Further with Food.” For our purposes, we want to reframe it to, “Go Further than Food.” This means that when we look at the nourishment picture, instead of zooming in on JUST food, we zoom out and look at ALL of the roles food has in our lives. Sure, food feeds our bodies on the cellular level, and it also nurtures connections with others, provides comfort during emotional times, and so much more. All of this is important. As we zoom out even further, our wider lens also looks beyond nutrition and recognizes that the definition of well-being is individual, and may include managing stress, creating and maintaining boundaries in relationships, fostering connections that are supportive, striking balance in work and life, finding ways to move our body that are enhancing of quality of life, and cultivating restful routines around sleep…..the list goes on. The question we ask you to consider this month is: What is your definition of well-being? What is most important to you, and your quality of life, in this moment? We encourage you to acknowledge and honor that. We are thrilled if we may be any part of it—supporting you in changing the way you approach food, movement, and your body---through our individual nutrition therapies and workshops, WalkStrong movement programs, massage therapy, lending library, and support systems. We know you’ve got this---we’re just here to support you.
